In this workshop, your son will learn about healthy relating – understanding his own developing identity, as well as how to build respectful, safe, and informed relationships with others. The workshop will provide practical tools for navigating romantic relationships with confidence and integrity.
Please Note:
This workshop will contain specific information about sexual activity, sexual identity, and sexual relationships.
The content will be presented in a fun, age-appropriate, and gentle way.
The workshop will focus on "practical tools" for your son to use (mindset, communication, and emotional regulation).
The workshop will be phone-free (phones will be collected at the start and can be checked during the break).
There will be three parts to the workshop:
Communication Tools – We will discuss what consent really means in sexual situations and how to confidently ask for consent while also advocating for safe sex (focusing on healthy relating, consent, and clear communication).
While teens may have a basic understanding of consent, it's essential they learn the nuances. This part will offer opportunities for your son to practice these skills in a supportive environment.Embodiment Tools – We will cover sexual anatomy, safe sex practices, and contraception, and how to stay connected with one's own body and its signals (focusing on safe relating, contraception, and emotional connection).
Understanding his own body as well as another’s body will help your son develop confidence in managing his sexual health and maintaining safety in intimate situations.Relationship Tools – We will discuss relationship red flags and green flags, as well as how to recognise warning signs both in-person and in digital interactions (focusing on healthy relating, red flags, and green flags).
Teaching boys to identify potential risks in relationships empowers them to make informed decisions about their own well-being and safety as well as their partners. We will also discuss the bystander effect and we’ll explore how to navigate these situations with care, compassion and caution.
There will be an opportunity for anonymous Q&A at the end of the workshop. If any concerns arise, I will follow up with you in a reflection email sent to all parents.
Parent/Carer Evening:
This optional but highly recommended evening session will provide parents with an overview of the workshop material. I will share resources that may be helpful for you and your son and answer any questions you might have.
Price:
$150 per child, including the parent evening and a goodie bag for the boys on the day. Included in the goodie bag is a workbook that will contain all the content covered so your son can refer back to it and water the seeds that the workshop will plant.
It is important sex education is accessible to all, so there are two community tickets free of charge for each workshop, please email directly to nominate yourself or someone else for these. If nominating someone else we can email them either on your behalf or anonymously to let them know there is a ticket available for them.
Payment options are by card via the link here, PayPal, bank transfer (email me for details), or cash. Payment plans welcome. And 'pay what you can' available too.
What to tell your son:
Telling any teen they are going to a sex ed workshop is going to feel awkward for them. So simply telling them they are going to a "Tools for teens" workshop may be enough. If they want more information it is up to you what you tell them, you could say there will be some talk about tools for healthy relationships, or how to deal with awkward situations. They might feel more comfortable going with a friend so please feel free to forward this information to anyone who might be interested.
My primary goals for the workshop are that the boys have fun, and they feel comfortable with me and the content. My secondary goals are that they leave feeling like have the information they need to make decisions that will keep them safe (physically and emotionally) when the time comes for them to engage in both emotional intimacy and sexual activity with another person.
Price is $150 and includes the parents evening and goodie bag for your son. Included in the goodie bag is a workbook that will contain all the content covered so your son can refer back to it and water the seeds that the workshop will plant.
